Four Week Beginner Sewing Course
Sew with confidence, from your first stitch to your first finished project.
Never touched a sewing machine before? That’s just fine. This four-week class is built for beginners who want real, hands-on skills, not just a video tutorial that you'll forget by next week.
You'll learn in a small group, at a real machine, guided by me. I’ll be there to help the moment you get stuck. By the end of week four, you'll know how to use a sewing machine confidently and have at least four finished projects to take home.
Class Details
Schedule: Saturdays, 1:00–4:00 PM, for 4 consecutive weeks
Class size: Limited to 4 students for personalized attention.
What to Expect
Small Cohort Format
You'll move through the four weeks with the same small group of four, building skills together week over week.
Hands-On from Day One
We’ll work through projects together for maximum machine time in the studio.
All Skill Levels Welcome
If you've never sewn a stitch with a machine or by hand, you'll be just fine.
A New Finished Project Every Weekend.
Everything Is Provided
Thread, pins, fabric, irons, cutting space, and machines are all here for you.
A Supportive, Low-Pressure Studio Environment
Mistakes are part of learning, and we'll help you troubleshoot them in real time.
Do I Need My Own Machine?
Nope. We have machines available in-studio for anyone who doesn't own one, just show up. If you have your own machine and want to learn on it, bring it along and we'll help you get comfortable with your specific model.
What You'll Learn (and Make)
Weekend 1: Pillows
Meet your machine, threading, bobbins, tension, needles, and basic machine anatomy. You'll practice straight stitches and machine control while sewing a simple pillow from start to finish.
Weekend 2: Handled Bags
Build on the basics with seams, seam finishes, backstitching, and pressing as you go, while constructing a flat bottomed bag with handles.
Weekend 3: Zippered Pouches
Level up with corners, curves, and your first zipper installation — a skill that opens the door to all kinds of future projects.
Weekend 4: Simple Garment (Your Choice)
Apply everything you've learned to sew a simple garment of your choosing, with guidance to help you pick something achievable and satisfying for your skill level.
